Med reprezentativnimi novimi organizacijami sta Are You Syrious? (AYS) iz Zagreba in organizacija No Name Kitchen (NNK), ki deluje v Grčiji, Srbiji in BiH. Z nami bosta govorila predsednica AYS Milena Zajović in vodja NNK Bruno Álvarez.

Who are grass-roots activists that help people in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Serbia, Slovenia, and elsewhere on the so-called “Balkan migrant route”? Are they grass-roots at all or are they perhaps something else? The event will focus on the initiatives that have emerged in response to the increasingly hopeless situation on the Balkan route that has witnessed the escalation of police violence against migrants as well as repressive state practices coupled with the unresponsiveness and inability to address the situation by established international NGOs. In recent years, several grass-roots organizations have emerged from the bottom up, seeking to make up for these deficits in the face of migration.
Among representative new organizations are Are You Syrious? (AYS) from Zagreb and No Name Kitchen (NNK) that is present in Greece, Serbia, and BiH. Our guests will be the president of AYS Milena Zajović and the founder of NNK Bruno Álvarez.
These organizations collect and distribute humanitarian aid but mainly they document the situation at the borders, publish reports and work in the field of advocacy. Both organizations are part of the Border Violence Monitoring Network that connects similar initiatives from half a dozen European countries to address violence on the outer borders of the European Union, and to create civil and political pressure. Recently, Infokolpa also became part of this network.
What is the purpose of the Border Violence Monitoring Network? What does it do? Join us on Thursday in Pritličje to find out. How are these organizations funded? Pennies – bring some donations, they will go towards a worthy cause.

The event will be in English.

SECOND-HAND EXCHANGE: During the event you will be able to exchange donations or male clothes for second-hand women’s clothes. We will transform your donations into male pants, jackets, shoes, and other things that are needed by people on the route. Every sock counts!
