Lepo vabljeni na predstavitev umetniške knjige The Last Sector – Tracing Back My Fathers Unspoken Past slovenske vizualne umetnice Helene Tahir, v četrtek, 13.6.2024, v Pritličju ob 18:00.
S predstavitvijo se zaključuje globoko oseben in izpoveden projekt Helene Tahir, ki je povezan z njeno družinsko zgodovino. Ideja o projektu se je umetnici porodila med transformativnem potovanjem v Iraku januarja 2023, med katerim se je Helena skušala povezati s svojimi družinskimi koreninami in odkriti enigmatične elemente očetove skrite preteklosti. Skozi eksperimentalno knjigo se Helena poglobi v svojo iraško dediščino in raziskuje teme pripadnosti in identitete, ki so globoko zakoreninjene v burni in neizrečeni zgodovini njenega očeta.
Knjiga izvirno združuje fotografije, arhivsko gradivo, Helenine zapise in risbe, skupaj s prepisi njenega družinskega video arhiva in ilustracijami njenega strica, arheologa Braqa Tahirja. Knjiga obenem vsebuje besedilo pisateljice in umetnostne zgodovinarke Samire Ghoulamia.
Na predstavitvi bo pogovor z umetnico Heleno Tahir in urednikom knjige Ilijem Prokopievom.
Knjigo je izdala založba PrivatePrint v sodelovanju z RAVNIKAR.

We are happy to invite you to the promotion of the book “The Last Sector – Tracing Back My Father’s Unspoken Past” by the Slovenian visual artist Helena Tahir on Thursday, June 13, 2024, in Pritličje at 18:00.
The promotion concludes Helena Tahir’s deeply personal and confessional project, which is connected to her family history. The idea for the project emerged from a transformative journey to Iraq in January 2023, during which Helena tried to connect with her family roots and uncover the enigmatic elements of her father’s hidden past. Through this experimental book, Helena delves into her Iraqi heritage and explores themes of belonging and identity deeply rooted in the stormy and untold history of her father’s life.
The book uniquely combines photographs, archival materials, Helena’s writings, and drawings, along with transcripts of her family video archives and illustrations by her uncle, archaeologist Braq Tahir. Additionally, the book features textual contribution by the writer and art historian Samira Ghoulamia.
The presentation will be an engaging conversation with the artist Helena Tahir and the book’s editor, Ilija Prokopiev.
